In October 2017, the management of the Monica Publishing Corporation of the Macasaet family was transferred to Prage Management Corporation, a start-up venture led by two experienced journalists. The company assumed control over the operations of Abante and its sister tabloid, Abante Tonite. The newspaper’s media portfolio includes the real-time online news website Abante: TNT, as well as the sibling websites Bilyonaryo, Politiko, Fastbreak, and Abogado. Additionally, the company operates Radyo Tabloidista, an online radio station, and Teletabloidista, along with Celebrity Radar, an entertainment publication.
Abante newspaper, established in May 1987 and a leading news publisher in the Philippines, is now under the management of Prage Management Corporation. This group of investors, led by former Presidential Communications Operations Office Undersecretary Rey Marfil and former Philippine Daily Inquirer senior reporter Gil Cabacungan Jr., took over management of Abante in October 2017.
The management team also includes Jeane Lacorte as managing editor, Jerome B. Motril as head of the Human Resource Department, Allyson T. Mallen as head of Circulation and Production, and Nida Castro as head of the Finance department.
In June of this year, the editorial department, along with the human resource, accounting, advertising, and MIS offices, moved to its new location on the third floor of Karrivin Plaza Building in Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City. The newspaper also has satellite offices in ParaƱaque, Manila, and Quezon City.
The new leadership of Abante is focused on strengthening and expanding its operations throughout the Philippines and the world through its online news website, abante.com.ph, while maintaining a high standard of integrity and quality in journalism.
